nightscores

novemeber 2024 till January 2026

They started in November 2024, and if we could sum it up in one sentence, we would say that they are three-hour meetings during which we practice with scores by Greek and foreign artists and for one hour create live collective dance works open to spectators.

Nightscores III is a technology of relationships, an organization for bringing us closer together.

This year, I believe more and more in such a choreographer or choreographers.
Nightscores is a choreography that manifests itself through a score that brings us together, where there is more than one choreographer, where the performers adapt to the needs of everyday life and where the audience is minimized.

🌙ೱ॥৻ৡ三🌙三What is 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬?

How do we practice scores today? How do we embrace the authority of a score and how do we take care of the right it gives us to annihilate and re-materialize it every night?

How do we consent not so much to its materiality, but to the physicality it carries and the embodied information we performatively convey
Our flesh retains the connections within it. How does the Body recall them?

-Nightscores are a field of encounters, an opportunity to exist through movement and observation, while relating to each other as members, points of a Body, an organism, and while gradually raising a collective awareness, an awareness that has been selected to be shared.

-These are gatherings that negotiate the multiplicity of our perspectives in relation to dance and its relationship to signs and scores.

-These are meetings that function as gateways to the experience of the body and the community that is created each time in situ, revealing to us qualities and dimensions of our Body that are different each time, qualities of our society, the ways in which we relate and communicate with it, and bodily understand, process, and evaluate the stimuli.

How do we encounter the "Body of a score" that runs through time in self-existence? How and why should we act reflectively, contemplative?
How and why should we consent to revival of each score?

They are activated through a warm-up that raises awareness of how each human body uniquely feels movement and how it is organized, connected, and moves through its various systems, and from there seeks how this cultivated awareness can be shared, can raise awareness and is able to bring negotiation and organization to the whole group.

How can we coexist in this way?
Can we cultivate a shared awareness?
How do we connect and communicate with the forms of awareness of others?

🌙ೱ॥৻ৡ三🌙三 How do 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 work?

The first three rounds took place once a week, while the fourth round took place once a month. In both cases, participants were experiencing a different score each time, either as interpreters or as witnesses to the process:

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 (𝐈𝐍) |19.30-22.30: This concerns individuals who will register their participation for each meeting, thus forming the group that will practice the proposed score each time. IN initially offers ways to communicate with the Body's networks and sensory awareness, and then proposes various forms of horizontal organization and exchange/interaction with the aim of helping participants develop, correlate, provoke, listen, support, and share their perspective while relating to each score and to the other participants.

𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 (𝐎𝐍)  | 21.00-22.00 :
Then, the group joins the score that has been selected for each time and discussed in IN and interacts with/experiences it for about an hour. This process is open to spectators, observers, and witnesses.
The nightscores close with a discussion open to anyone who has watched the process and wishes to participate.

🌙Why now, 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬?

-Because we don't need to produce something new every time, but rather allow ourselves to come into "new" contact with what we encounter around us and within us. To come to terms with what the Body is today and not what we remember it was or what we would like it to be, and to observe our embodied tendencies  as we relate to the world.

-Because what we create does not always need to be "complete" in order to be addressed, and thus we allow the other to coexist precisely because we are learning to address our dance interactions.

-To manage again and again how we relate to each other, human and non-human, performer and observer, and to create a world precisely because we allow empty space between.

-To listen to how our eyes fall on the dance of scores, on the dance of others, on the dance between others and between what we see outside and inside us.

-Because the context is always changing, and so is everything within it, and so there is a question of how today's perceptions influence the approaches and practices that were created with other filters of embodied knowledge.

🌙Why should I witness as a viewer 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬?

-Because you can participate in the next one too.

-To support, on various levels, individuals and dancers/choreographers who explore collective practices of creation, thought, action, and dance.

-To support choreographers who have shared their scores with the community and develop various forms of exchange of knowledge and action.

-To support choreographers who have shared their scores with the community and develop various forms of exchange of knowledge and action.

-Because you participate as an attentive spectator, cultivating how you observe a world, the pursuit of what you do not already know, and the perspective of such a movement.

-Because you collaborate as a member of an organism that seeks to communicate and connect.

-Because you connect with processes that transform and move something bodily and thus socially.

-Because you liberate the meaning of movement and allow it to move in every now.

-Because when you tune in and sync up with other people, just like with all mammals, processes are activated in us humans that reduce stress and increase the sense of security, connection, and coexistence.

general information about nightscores

🌙The 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 are open to dancers, visual artists, musicians, amateurs and professionals of various talents, and generally anyone who wishes to connect through this process! If you have any questions, please send us a message at 𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐢@ 𝐠𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥.𝐜𝐨𝐦

🌙At 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬, scores by choreographers, score researchers, and a few visual and musical artists are generally proposed. Given the abundance and variety available, we will focus on scores that are being performed rather than those that are created for documentation. The scores are proposed by each choreographer, sometimes in the form of text, drawings, recordings, videos, etc., depending on what the individual chooses and  in line with the texture of the score they had created for their work in the past.

ᨎᨄ☾╮╯Are you a dancer and want to get in touch with choreographers' scores?

ᨎᨄ☾╮╯Are you an improviser and want to cultivate how you respond in your encounters with other Bodies and the "Body" of a score?

ᨎᨄ☾╮╯Are you an actor, musician, visual artist, practicioner, student and want to explore in movement - or in your own medium - how choreographic practices offer alternative ways of being in relation to other people, to your surroundings and to the Body of a score?

ᨎᨄ☾╮╯Are you none of the above and want to experiment with what score means, how do you relate to it?

ᨎᨄ☾╮╯Are you all of these and/or so much more and want to explore how you experience the eyes of the spectators/witnesses of this process?

ᨎᨄ☾╮╮╯Are you all of these and/or so many others and have you felt that sensuality and bodily practices can form a common ground for our Bodies and for the Body of a group to meet?

ᨎᨄ☾╮╯Don't you have this as knowledge and want to explore it?

ᨎᨄ☾╮╯Are you all this and/or so much more and/or none of this and want to participate in something that is not just a class or just meetings or just improvisation?
